European Society of Nematologists (ESN) Medal
The European Society of Nematologists (ESN) Medal recognizes outstanding individuals at early to mid-career stages, groups, or consortia for their contributions to the science of nematology and/or for promoting the objectives of the Society. A single large contribution or several contributions taken together can include areas of research, collaboration, and/or education and outreach.
NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Deadline: ESN Medals will next be awarded during the 2026 ESN Symposium. The deadline for nominations will be announced in 2025.
Eligibility: Members of the Society are eligible to put forward nominations, including self-nominations. We consider early career to be <8 years post PhD, and mid-career to be <20 years post PhD. Career breaks and extenuating circumstances will be considered and these should not be considered hard cutoffs.
Nomination Statement: A nomination statement should specify the nominee's name(s), background, and detail their contributions to the field of nematology. Please ensure the statement does not exceed 1000 words in length. The governing body may nominate individuals or groups.
Letters of Endorsement: Maximally two separate endorsement letters can be included in the nomination packet in addition to the nomination statement.
Decision-Making Process: There will be not more than one award given per category per conference cycle (i.e. typically once every two years). The decision will be made by the governing board members of the society or a committee appointed by the governing board members with delegated authority.
Prize: The ESN medal and an honorary membership for one conference cycle will be awarded to the recipient(s).
Contact Information: The nomination package should be submitted to the secretary of ESN via email at se389@cam.ac.uk
